Déjà Vu

Déjà Vu

Our first real in depth visit back to our favorite places on a bright sunny day.

Revisiting many of the scenes I photographed last year and made videos from, I had an overwhelming sense that I was being redundant taking pictures again of the same old vistas. It actually consciously caused me to not take a lot of photos and look for new things to notice and discover. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

The feeling that “I’ve been here before, I’ve done this before” was strong, but also kind of powerful in a way I can’t express. Then I listened to the classic song by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

Perfect. “We have all been here before.”

So I put this slideshow together with the purpose of allowing the viewer to experience (again) what I was experiencing (again.)

And by the end of the day’s journey back, I did find new things to see and record that I had overlooked in last year’s visits…seen in earlier visits but neglected as other interests consumed me last summer, and thus I came to reignite, and begin again, my current creative obsession with the lily pads and the wetland ponds. Again.

Round and round and round we go…

Here are all the shots I took in the order taken, good or bad, redundant or not, as I experienced my own Déjà Vu at one of my favorite places in the world.
