I go to Nova Scotia every summer through the end of October and stay at my home on a drumlin (google it! LOL) that sticks out into the middle of a wide curving bay called Clam Bay. The community is named Abbecombec, which as it turns out, is derived from the native word for a wide curving bay.

I’ve had a lifelong desire to be an artist. I have fulfilled that dream in many ways. However, attempts to paint in oils were…shall we say…not very successful. Now thanks to digital editing algorithms and digital image capture, I can at least pretend I’ve found a way to create the paintings I’ve always wanted to.
This little video is a presentation of faux paintings digitally created from my own photographs, made to appear like the paintings I wish I could paint, if I could actually paint. Continue reading
Another Crappy Day
So I’m in Nova Scotia finally. After a summer in Happy Hollow, enduring the heat and humidity, so I could enjoy my meadow and my garden for a change, I finally loaded George and myself in the truck after Labor Day and made the long, long, long drive up to my getaway on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. He Ain’t Heavy
My brother David Frantz will be 64 on Friday, February 16, 2018. I made this as a birthday gift for him from my pics of his first and last surf sessions in Nova Scotia below my house there in November 2016. My brother is core. Continue reading

It is a idea good to develop the habits of being prepared and having emergency supplies and plans in place. All coastal dwellers also learn to follow the weather reports and storm tracks closely. Very closely. And to be ready to act appropriately for whatever turns up. Continue reading
George Flubs The Audition
George does not take direction well, but he does try.
A multi-media experience of a day at our favorite beach in Nova Scotia with my dog, George. Featuring his first (and likely only) live film audition. Continue reading
Astaak at Abbecombec
Today’s vocabulary words:
Awakening – coming into existence or awareness.
Requiescence – a state of rest or repose; peace, quiet.
Astaak is the native name for the point on which I built my home. It means “the sun comes out.” It overlooks Abbecombec, which is the native word for a wide curving bay and also the name of the village below my home along whose beaches I stroll almost daily. Continue reading
