Feeling Free

Feeling Free

Just another visit to our beach here in Nova Scotia.

For his own protection (and my sanity) George has to remain leashed at all times wherever we go. Being (I suspect) half greyhound, he does not recall, but loves to run and chase. I do let go occasionally, but it is risky. I leave the long leash attached so I can catch him, but he has gone way back into the wilderness and gotten tangled, which was then not fun, quite a challenge in fact.

Without the leash attached, if he manages to get loose, he’s been known to stay at large for up to 8 hours, worrying me half to death until he returns at 4 am, wakes me with a single soft bark, and head hanging submissively when I open the door, humbly begs to come in.

Still he is always so excited to go to the beach, and makes the most of it. That is a big part of the reason I’ve posted so many of his photo bombs, he’s just irrepressible and so filled with joy. It isn’t always easy to take photos tied to an excited half Lab pup but I think he feels almost as free as I do on these jaunts along the shore. He sure acts like it.
